That's the true beauty of SiriDepot Areca leaf based plates. You can compost them either in home compost or in local composting facilities. If you don't have home compost but have a garden/ back yard, you could just break the plates up and bury them. If none of these options are available to you, just dispose them with your regular garbage and the foodware - will naturally biodegrade in 6-8 weeks. It is also a very healthy fodder for livestock. Cow & sheep loves our Areca plates.

All SiriDepot Areca plates are made from palm leaves that are naturally shed, home compostable, fully biodegradable and contain NO chemical or toxins. It's a perfect example of the cradle to cradle concept. Try and experience it, so you can be the judge.

The three-step process is as simple as the product:

  1. Fallen palm leaves are collected and washed thoroughly.
  2. The leaves are placed in a heat press and stamped into shape.
  3. The plates are cut into the finished shape and size and trimmed.

Our products are very strong and sturdy. In fact, we are pretty sure they are the strongest disposables out there. This makes them an absolute joy to eat from at events where they have to be held in the hand.

No. Recycling involves melting permanent materials (i.e. metals, glass, plastic, and etc), and reforming them for re-use.

No. They have been sterilized and cleaned so please feel free to use them straight out of the packet.

Absolutely! Our Areca plates are light weight yet strong enough to be used with a knife and fork without risk of punctures or leaks.

Absolutely! Our Areca plates are superior and are all ideal for soups, curries or any other liquid foods you can cook up with an ease and comfort that other types of disposables can only dream of. And you won't get that sogginess you might have experienced with other disposables (we call it "that horrible sinking feeling").

The product has excellent insulating properties and can take heat very well. You can comfortably hold your bowl or plate of hot food without cooking your hand!

Yes, within reason. SiriDepot Areca plates are significantly more durable than plastic or paper plates. It's perfectly safe to heat our plates in the microwave for up to 2 minutes or in an oven up to 350 degrees for 45 minutes (making sure they are at least 6 from heat source). You can also store Areca plates in the refrigerator or freezer.
If you want to freeze your meat or fish go ahead and use SiriDepot Areca leaf trays.

No. SiriDepot Areca plates won't alter the taste of your food in any way. They also have no lacquers on them, so there's nothing to leach into your food-something that can happen with plastics or PLA plastics.

You can serve meals on our products straight out of the package! All SiriDepot Areca plates are cleaned and UV sterilized.

Yes, all of our products are completely non-toxic, because we use nothing but leaves and spring water.

Each SiriDepot Areca plates is unique because of the natural texture, color and pattern of the leaf it's made from. We do not alter the leaves in anyway.

We know it's hard to believe that SiriDepot Areca plates are intended for single-use, but our line is actually fully biodegradable and compostable. Because we do not use any bonding agents, lacquers or chemicals and our product is natural and porous, we cannot legally recommend washing and reusing Areca plates.
We can, however, tell you that our customers often write in that they hand wash the plates and enjoy them time and again.

They are all the same product. The plates are made from 100% natural sheaths and not manufactured to be identical in color or texture. You will love to see that each plate is unique of their appeal.

Our Areca plates have no coating whatsoever. Each plate is absolutely natural being made from individual areca palm sheaths. The palm sheaths are simply collected, pressure washed, scrubbed, sun dried, then with the application of extreme heat and pressure, sterilized and formed into our plate shapes. All natural, no coatings, chemicals, resins, dyes or synthetic materials.

You sure can. Since there are no additives or chemicals used in the production of our Areca plates, it is absolutely safe to burn them. It doesn't produce dirtier black smoke. In fact, before we started making plates out of these fallen palm leaf sheaths, they would have been burnt off on a massive scale as a waste product.
